2018-19 Record: 2-17-1
Tournament Result: Did not qualify
Head Coach: Scott Raymond (2nd season)
Key Returning Players: Jeb Boyrer (F, Sr.), Finn Cullen (F, Jr.), Fin Bean (D, Sr.), Nat Gibson (D, So.), Max Vitucci (G, Sr.)
Impact Newcomers: Keegan Cullen (F, Fr.)
Goalie Situation: Senior Max Vitucci is one of those under the radar, super talented goalies that are often forgotten when talking about the best. He will be one of the best goalies among the DIII ranks this year. He’ll be backed up by freshman Patrick Gummer this year.
Outlook: In Scott Raymond’s first season as the head coach of Norwalk-McMahon, the co-op failed to reach the postseason and managed only two wins. Over the last five seasons, Norwalk-McMahon has compiled a mark of 20-76-3. Their best mark over that span came two years ago when they went 7-13. I think they will return to that level of competency this year if not better. Senior captain Jeb Boyrer is one of the state’s most unheralded gems. He enters his senior season flanked by junior captain Finn Cullen and impact freshman Keegan Cullen. On D, senior Fin Bean and sophomore Nat Gibson will take on two of the more important defensive roles in the state and in net, Norwalk-McMahon boasts one of the best returning goalies at the DIII level in senior Max Vitucci. They’ll be without senior captain and defenseman Cooper Gibson who will be out until January with a lower body injury. Additionally, Raymond added a bunch of new coaches to his staff to help in a variety of areas. It’s hard to get excited about a team who won two games the previous year but I can guarantee you a couple things, this will be a tournament team and this will be a team that makes going to the SoNo Ice House not as much of a cake walk as it’s been in past years.
