It's beginning to look a lot like postseason hockey! Every week, at times more than once a week, we will take a quick, consolidated look at where teams stand in terms of seeding. Here is our first Bracketology! As a reminder, this is not a prediction. This is all based on the current CIAC standings.
DIVISION I
1) Notre Dame-West Haven BYE 9) West Haven @ 8) Xavier
13) Northwest Catholic @ 4) Fairfield Prep
12) Hamden @ Notre Dame-Fairfield
15) St. Joseph @ 2) New Canaan
10) Ridgefield @ 7) Greenwich
11) Fairfield Co-op @ 6) Simsbury
14) Immaculate @ 3) Darien
Seeds 1, 2, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15 are locked in. Prep will move to a 3-seed should they beat NDF which would cause Darien to drop to a 4-seed. If Immaculate loses one of their final two games they are locked in at 14. Should Immaculate win out, NWC would drop to 14. Seed 6-8 will be comprised of Xavier, Simsbury and Greenwich. If Xavier beats Immaculate, then Xavier would be the 6, Simsbury would be the 7 and Greenwich the 8. West Haven lost their chance at home ice with their tie tonight vs. Xavier. They'll be the 9.
DIVISION II
16) South Windsor @ 1) Branford
9) Glastonbury @ 8) East Catholic
13) Eastern CT Eagles @ 4) Westhill-Stamford
12) Cheshire @ 5) WMRP
15) Guilford @ 2) Daniel Hand
10) Trumbull @ 7) North Haven
11) LHK @ 6) Woodstock Academy
14) East Haven Co-op @ 3) Farmington Valley
ELIMINATED: Amity, Watertown-Pomperaug, Conard, North Branford
INELIGIBLE: EO Smith-Tolland
Seeds 1, 2, 3 are locked. Branford clinched the top seed tonight. With Hand's win and FVG's loss they become the 2 and the 3 and it seems like Woodstock can't be moved out of the six spot though they could move up should WMRP slip up. We'll start at the bottom. If South Windsor beats Glastonbury they become the 15-seed and Guilford becomes the 16. If SW loses, they stay where they are. If WMRP beats LHK in their finale, they would leap Westhill-Stamford and become the 4-seed. WS would drop to 5. North Haven has home ice locked up but can still drop a spot. For Glastonbury to get home ice they would need to beat South Windsor and have East Catholic lose to FVG. LHK and Cheshire have the ability to move a spot or two depending on their last hurrah. ECE actually jumped over East Haven Co-op with their tie against EO Smith-Tolland tonight. ECE finishes with Cheshire. East Haven has Sheehan. We know the 16 teams at DII. It's just a matter of how they shake out.
DIVISION III
16) BBD @ 1) Newington Co-op
9) Enfield Co-op @ 8) Newtown
13) Staples @ 4) New Milford
12) Tri-Town @ 5) SGWL
15) Housy @ 2) Sheehan
10) Masuk @ 7) Norwalk-McMahon
11) Milford Co-op @ 6) Wilton
14) JBWA @ 3) Hall-Southington
OUTSIDE LOOKING IN: Trinity Catholic
ELIMINATED: Northeastern, Shepaug
It's entirely possible and I'm way too tired to be sure but it looks like there are zero seeds locked up at the DIII level. Newington Co-op and Sheehan will be the top two seeds but if Sheehan wins their finale against East Haven, they'll be the top dog. Hall-Southington still has three games but posted a big win over Newington tonight. Hall-South, New Milford, SGWL and Wilton can all shift among each other but are all locks for home ice. Should Masuk become a qualifier bonus points could alter some of this but I don't think it will drastically. Newtown is currently an 8-seed but with Enfield having a final game against Northeastern they will likely get leapt. That means Newtown will have to win their final game against SGWL to get home ice in the first round. JBWA and their win over DII WP tonight put them ahead of Housy who dropped to the 15-seed. BBD will remain the 16-seed if and only if Trinity Catholic loses or ties their finale two games against Masuk and Wilton. Should TC lose, BBD is in and the DIII 16 are set. We could still see some minor movement among those non-qualifiers.
